Two more feet in the “river stage” separates my first floor “basement” and the Mississippi backwater right now. We’re at 16', at 18' the river starts overtaking the Levees.

This is actually kinda fun. All of my neighbors on lower land have moved their stuff to higher ground. I’m meeting new people.. Seeing new things.. One guy has a beautiful 1950s GM bus converted to a motorhome. It still has it’s original Detroit Diesel.

I’ll have to get some pics tomorrow. After I move all my junk to high ground.

I know the feeling. Empty the basement. Get the generator and pump ready.

Do you still have access to your house when the water comes up? The primary roads into our area flood, but our house stays dry. If the water is up for just a few days, we’re good. If it’s expected to be more than that we have to make a supply run before it gets here. Never fun.

I read this post before jumping in the shower this morning, and this song has been in my head ever since. That’s not a bad thing though, I love this one.
